Easy Modal Chord Progression For Lead Guitar Players

By David Miller

To bring out the unique feel of the various modes is one of the challenges of building a modal chord progression. Without taking care in selection , this part can become obscured. Now, lets look at Dorian and Phrygian. They are both minor modes. Both will use a Minor 7th as the tonic chord. For instance If we added lII chord into the mix, but played it as a plain triad, we would use the chord of C Major in both cases. So, we get an identical chord progression, although both the modes are different.

We can arrange this by adding another note on top of our III chord, giving us a major 7 for Dorian and a Dominant 7 for Phrygian (B vs. Bb) - a fairly subtle modification that corrects the balance.

A better mode to deal with all this is to cautiously select chords that are characteristic to the way in question. For example, lets look at a Lydian progression, we will start with A major 7 as our tonic. We should emphasize on what is different in that musical mode as compared with others to cement the Lydian. Lydian has the risk of being confused with Ionian and Mixolydian. By looking at the table above, we can understand that of these three modes, only Lydian has a major chord in the second degree - Mixolydian and Ionian are both minor in the 2nd degree, so this would be a wonderful chord to use. This makes sense because we understand that Lydian has a sharpened 4th.

This same sharpened 4th forms the 3rd of the chord. Since this chord would normally be minor in a standard major scale, sharpening its 3rd would make it major. So another manner to look at picking distinctive chords is to base them on notes within the scale that are distinctive - it generally comes to the same thing.

To keep the bass note voicing on the tonic is another trick that we can utilize to concentrate on the mode of the progression. It genuinely draws attention to where in the scale the chord is rooted, despite the fact that it complicates the chords a bit. Furthermore, it also allows you to concentrate on the tonality of the manner you are working with. Though this trick is less important. But this is a remarkable mode to start out and help you to become more advanced. Building a Modal Chord Progression For Lead Guitar Players

To bring out the different feel of the various modes is one of the challenges of building a modal chord progression. Without taking care in chord selection, this part can become confused. As an instance, lets look at Dorian and Phrygian. They are both minor modes because they have flattened out 3rds. Both will practice a Minor 7th as the tonic chord. If we imparted for example a III chord into the mix, but played it as a simplified triad, we would use the chord of C Major in both cases. So, we have an identical chord progression, although both the modes are different.

We can specify this up a little by adding up another note on top of our III chord, giving us a major 7 for Dorian and a Dominant 7 for Phrygian (B vs. Bb) - a fairly subtle change that pretty much redresses the symmetry.

A better mode to deal with all this is to carefully pick out chords that are characteristic to the mode in question. For instance, lets look at a Lydian progression, we will start with A major 7 as our tonic. We should emphasize on what is unique in that mode as compared with others to cement the Lydian. Lydian, as being a major musical mode has the risk of being mixed up with Ionian and Mixolydian. By looking at the table above, we can see that of these three modes, only Lydian has a major chord in the second degree - Mixolydian and Ionian are both minor in the 2nd degree, so this would be a great chord to use. This makes sense, because we know that Lydian has a pointed 4th.

This same focused 4th forms the 3rd of the chord derived from the second degree of the musical scale. Since this chord would usually be minor in a regular major musical scale, sharpening its 3rd would make it major. So another manner to look at picking peculiar chords is to base them on notes within the musical scale that are peculiar - it pretty much comes to the same thing.

To carry on the bass note sounding on the tonic is another trick that we can use to focus on the modality the progression. It really draws attention to where in the scale the chord is rooted. But it complicates the chords a bit. Furthermore, it also allows you to concentrate on the tonality of the mode you are working with. Though this trick is less important but is a great means to start out and assist you to become more advanced. - 29968

Teeth Whitening

By Jane Davies

Your teeth are a very obvious feature of your appearance. Teeth whitening agencies know about this fact, which is why they are encouraging people to whiten their teeth, in order that they can look their best and in order that others will think their whole appearance more pleasing.

Whitening your teeth can also enhance your self confidence. Did you ever noticed those people who smile a lot even to strangers? Notice how easily they radiate warmth just by smiling that Hollywood smile. Sometimes, that smile becomes so catching that you find yourself smiling and feeling better for the rest of the day.

This is why you should brighten that smile, so you can do it much more often. One method of perfecting it, is by whitening your teeth. In today's world where beauty products and facial makeovers are rampant, you see lots of beautiful people, but you will always remember is the colour of their teeth.

You probably think that they are very fortunate to have been born with beautiful white teeth like that, but what you do not realize is that those teeth are the result of using some of) the whitening products and procedures that are available on the market today.

Over-the-counter teeth whitening products are not as dear as they once were. This is probably because of the stiff competition out in the market. With so many new products appearing practically everyday, it is no wonder that the prices are dropping so rapidly.

Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Are your teeth as white as they once were? Do you feel that they could be made even whiter? Are you one of those who would benefit from having their teeth whitened?

To answer these questions, look at some of these considerations:

1. Methods for teeth whitening. The methods used for teeth whitening are on a case-to-case basis. For every individual, there is a method that will suit their different needs. You can opt for veneers instead of bleaching or teeth whitening. The best thing to do is to consult your dentist first about what should be done. Your dentist will be able to tell you what will be perfect for your needs.

2. Smokers and caffeine-addicts. If you are one of those who like to consume caffeinated drinks, then you are an ideal candidate for teeth whitening. This is the same for people who smoke. The ingredients in caffeinated drinks can dull your teeth if you have been drinking caffeine for a long time. Tar and nicotine can also discolour teeth easily.

By having your teeth whitened or by continuously using whitening toothpaste, you can minimize the effects that these things will bring about on your teeth. Prolonged and regular use will definitely help fight off the quick discoloration of your teeth.

3. Sensitive teeth and gums. Your teeth and gums might not be able to tolerate the chemicals in the whitening products. If you suspect you have sensitive teeth, it is better to put off using whitening products until you have first asked your dentist.

If you have a sensitive mouth, but you are still adamant about having your teeth whitened, then you had better try one of the professional treatments. Do not take the chance of buying one of the products that you can buy over the counter.

After you have considered all these aspects, then you will have a good idea if you are ready for that teeth whitening procedure. When it comes to your well being, it is always better to be safe than to be sorry. - 29968

Dating A Celebrity-Is It Your Dream?

By Christy Mak

Even though I like some cute celebrities, I have never thought of dating one who does not share common interests with me.

I love watching movies, but it is true that I have never dreamed of dating a celebrity, which sounds a little bit unusual. It is probably because I am an eager reader and I love stories. I love to see how the story goes in a movie than watching celebrities.

Some people nowadays don't read much because they watch TV. I am the opposite and I still read a lot. There are indeed some talented scriptwriters for TV drama series. Through watching these TV drama series, one could learn the art of fiction writing.

Being an introvert who likes staying at home, I watch TV quite often. My favorite series include Sex and the City, Big Love, Flight of the Concords, etc. and HBO is my favorite channel.

Some of the male characters featured in the above TV series are actually quite cute and sexy. For examples, I really like the lead actor in Flight of Concords.

Apart from cute or sexy men, I also like men who speak with a New Zealander accent.

Some female fans always in their fantasies in dreaming dating one of the celebrities, but I am not really interested in them. I never think of dating any of the celebrities even though I find them cute and sexy.

Honestly, I don't understand why people are so addicted to celebrities that they would want to date them. Those people might think that I am missing out on some fun that they could enjoy. But seriously, I do not think dating a celebrity would be much more exciting than just dating an ordinary person. - 29968

The Beatles In Stereo - Review Of The Remastered Stereo Beatles Box Set

By Henry J. Jamison Jr.

If you already own all of The Beatles albums in stereo on CD already then you may be wondering if it's really worth it to buy them all again because they've been remastered and repackaged in The Beatles In Stereo Box Set.

The Beatles In Mono Box Set's appeal is easy to see. The mono mixes in that box are making their very first appearance on CD and considering that the mono mixes are the ones the band themselves worked so hard on, it seems obvious that every real Beatles fan will want a copy.

Sound quality is the key with The Beatles in Stereo set. While the mixes aren't new, sometimes they sound so much more clear that they might as well be.

One comparison that should help you understand the improvement in sound quality with these remastered CDs is the comparison from VHS to DVD and then from DVD to Blu-Ray. To my ears, this difference is at least as big of a jump as VHS to Blu-Ray is a jump in video quality.

But with music I think sound clarity is even more important than video clarity is to a movie. Why? Because with a movie you can still follow the plot and know what's going on just the same whether or not it's perfectly clear or not. But with music, the added clarity can actually allow you to hear parts in the music that you may have missed when it wasn't as clear.

When listening to The Beatles in Stereo CDs I hear all kinds of little details in their songs that I never heard before, even though I've listened to all of their songs hundreds of times!

The years of waiting has really paid off. They may have taken a long time to do these remasters but when they finally did do them, they did them right.

The sound of the bass and the drums are the biggest improvements with these remastered stereo CDs but they are not the only improvements. Everything really sounds clearer including the vocals. Never before have I been able to hear every voice in the harmonies so clearly before.

There were a lot of potential mistakes that they could have made when doing these remasters. They could have taken part in the "loudness wars." They could have taken out all of the analog ambiance that helps give the music it's "life." They managed to avoid all of the mistakes and really do The Beatles music justice. They've never sounded better before. - 29968

The Facts About Karaoke - Who Invented It

By Justin Underwood

Karaoke has become a favourite amongst all age groups ,even though the ones that may know the least about it are the elders. However in a sense they know to a greater extent about it then the youth of today. Ages ago this golden age group, were in the habit of getting together at a party or a nightclub and singing all the old golden songs and songs they grew up with. The only thing actually missing was the machine.

With the birth of karaoke came the birth of a lot of self assurance. Individuals that usually would be too unsure to get up and sing before a crowd, seem to find it much simpler if other singers are going to do it as well.

Karaoke was founded in Japan. Theres a narrative going around that a bar owner had employed some entertainment that didnt show up. So out of despair he put on some tapes and inquired in anyone preferred to sing. As the narrative goes, the night was a massive success and thus the birth of this superb hobby. The citizens of Japan specially enjoy doing hit songs from the Beatles and Elvis. They have adapted quite a liking for northwestern music. This is a real incentive for foreign exchange students. In addition it is a remarkable aid for brushing up the English language.

In the very beginning it was rather a simple system. One would simply put a tape measure on and someone would sing along with it. Then it run up onto videos with computer graphics. Lastly now the more sophisticated adaptation is the karaoke machine that consists of a microphone and a video screen to follow along the song with. Much like when we were kids and would discover a song on television and sing along by sticking to the bouncing ball.

An absorbing problem that had to be worked out in Japan was the dissonance element. The homes are placed very close together in that state, so an individual singing at the top of his lungs could be quite a distraction for the neighbours, no matter how accomplished the singer was. To resolve that trouble they devised the karaoke box. In fact the first packages were railway cars that manage to control the music quite nicely.

Karaoke seems to be a genuine ice breaker. Where people may not usually socialise with each other. it appears an individual getting up and singing opens the way to conversation. Frequently a person is complimented on how well they done when they get off stage, and a conversation may start.

Its is a outstanding instrument to build self-confidence in kids. Most youngsters love to sing and will express themselves through songs. Some are rather shy even so. Having the music to trace seems to give them self-assurance, as though they are not exclusive when they are before the audience.

Of course the word Karaoke is a Japanese word. Kara signifies empty and oke means olestra which equals orchestra. It for certain is a uncanny manner to spend a fun night full of entertainment. - 29968
